small business webs

In 1992 I was an internet pioneer; my small business had a website. A highly competitive retail sales business, it needed every advantage. Website design, hosting and maintenance costs were huge. Design: $3,500 - $7000, Hosting: $350+ month and Maintenance: $50 to $70 per hour. Designers had little, if any, small business marketing advice. Hosting providers were lucky to display your website 55 - 60% of the time. Once the website was finished, paid for and published. . . you were pretty much on your own. My, how things have changed.

    Was the website worth it?

While few buyers were "on line" compared to today's millions, the website was quite effective.

    Is it still as expensive?

Web development is now quite competitive.     Actually, basic webs can be downright cheap.

Does your business need a website? Today's competitive business climate almost requires it. If you want new customers, want to keep the customers you have . . . you need one. A growing percentage of your, and your competitor's, customers are on the "net" searching the "best deals" for the very products and services you offer; perhaps forgetting you're there. If you advertise, you're painfully aware of how expensive it is - especially for an unproductive ad. Your budget prohibits saying more, showing more in the ad. Webs make small ads work.

A customer views your ad, directed to an effective website, is now the buying customer walking into your store.

With 20 years retail experience, education in marketing / advertising and military computer training, I quickly evolved to design my own business webs. Bringing that experience to the table, scootstyle.com would like to be your web advisor. I'm confident our team can provide your business with a unique, effective and affordable internet presence.        DID I MENTION . . . WE TAKE PAYMENTS.

Webs have experienced similar evolution to Edison's little gizmo at left - cost prohibitive, almost mysterious in the beginning but now completely integrated into our everyday lives - a powerful impact. However, make no mistake . . . a website just to have a website is like a light bulb without electricity. Make it work for you.

Watch for display ads, well designed and not so much. A teeny tiny line at the bottom lists the business web address. It's ironic that the website can be such better representation of the company and its products / services. Via your ads, give the potential customer the motivation to "log on" to your best advertisment.
